With its association to England's high culture and the arts, the borough of Chelsea naturally has one of the most expensive property valuations not only in London, but in the whole world. Chelsea is the location of the exclusive Knightsbridge (Postcode SW1X), the high-end district notorious for its upmarket residential and commercial properties. The Times in 2007 reported that 14 out of the 200 most expensive streets to live in in the whole of Great Britain are located in Knightsbridge.

England's most sought-after addresses can be found in Chelsea: Brompton Road, Point Street, Beauchamp Place and Sloane Street. They are among the big-ticket addresses in all of England, with an international client profile (both for commercial and residential leases) that includes the wealthiest people and famous celebrities.

Not everybody can lease a property in Knightsbridge, since it is predominantly "owned" by the Earl Cadogan who has rights over the Cadogan Estates where the posh area is located. The Earl is a freeholder of the Knightsbridge properties, meaning, he has the right to grant a lease (mostly short-term) and approve a property sale. Recently, changes in London real property legislation obliges the Earl to sell portions of land to long-term leaseholders. Despite previous property ownership restriction, the Lord Cadogan was credited to the high valuation of properties in most of Chelsea. His development team was credited for bringing high-end retailers like Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Peter Jones in Chelsea.

As home to Great Britain's flagship international businesses, real property experts view Chelsea as a Global Ultra Prime Residential Area. Among the notoriously expensive Chelsea properties recently sold include the apartment in One Hyde Park bought by a Qatar prince for £100,000,000, an apartment unit that sold for £25,000,000 and parking lot spaces that were leased for £300,000.
